Red Squirrels Eden Valley.

Staffield Hall has Red Squirrels running around within its grounds. Constantly under attack from Greys.The non-native grey squirrel was first introduced to England from America in the late 1870s. The grey squirrel is the primary cause of decline of the red squirrel. It is vital that all sightings of grey squirrels are reported in order to preserve the red squirrels in Cumbria.  To report a sighting of a grey squirrel please click here.

The Red Squirrels in the Eden Valley manage to keep a presence and in fact the numbers have grown in the last five years. The region enjoys Red Squirrels living naturally in the wild across the whole of the area. A lost is done to protect them and help maintain their habitat safe for them to establish themselves.
